Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Chinawoot Somwan (ranked 4869 p4p, 618 weight class) and Ronald Chacon (ranked 25662 p4p, 948 weight class). Ronald Chacon is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are David Hoff, Dirk Anderson and Daniel Franklin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Chacon is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Somwan's half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Somwan is refusing to be controlled, as Chacon sits in half guard.
Somwan has his hands clasped together around Chacon's back. He's all about the action.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Chacon is looking for a kimura but Somwan is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Chacon to get the leverage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Chacon trying to control from half guard but Somwan is working away.
Chacon perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Somwan is looking to improve his position.
Somwan wants to get back to full guard but Chacon has passed into side control.
Chacon is looking to take a break and control but Somwan is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Chacon tries to move into full mount but can't pass Somwan's legs.
Somwan tries to get back to half guard but can't.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Chacon trying to control the position but Somwan is working away.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
A cross from Somwan lands.

Somwan connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Chacon takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Somwan scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Chacon doesn't seem bothered though.
Chacon dives in and grabs Somwan's left leg, looking for a takedown. Somwan pushes down on Chacon's head and hops out.
Somwan connects with a body shot.
Somwan scores with a three punch combo!
Chacon avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Chacon changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Chacon uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Somwan.
Chacon tries to score a power double leg takedown but Somwan sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Chacon somewhat.

Somwan lands a big uppercut and Chacon crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Chacon looks OK. Somwan waves Chacon back to his feet!

Chacon is rocked!

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Somwan connects with a left and a right that sees a clearly hurt Chacon covering up! Somwan comes in with a big uppercut and Chacon goes doooown! He's slumped up against the cage, eyes staring blankly into space.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:11 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Chinawoot Somwan!
Chinawoot Somwan decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
