The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Frank Dennis and Chris Downing.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Veres does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Bonner shoots in and bounces Veres off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Veres manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Veres clinches.
Veres avoids a wild elbow strike from Bonner.
Bonner looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Veres is trying to pull guard but Bonner turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
A body shot lands from Veres.
Veres breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Bonner scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Bonner jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Veres walks away with a smile on his face. Bonner gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Bonner throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Veres's waist but Veres gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Bonner off to one side.

Bonner throws a hook to the side of Veres's head but Veres sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Bonner tries to close the distance and clinch up but Veres swats him away and circles back towards the center.
The fight stays on the outside here - Bonner looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Veres shoots in looking for a takedown. Bonner tries to sprawl out of it but Veres keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Bonner manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Horrible takedown attempt by Veres or perhaps it was just good defense by Bonner, which made it look bad.
Bonner seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.

and Bonner counters with a left and a right that stings Veres.
Veres pushes Bonner up against the cage in a clinch.
Bonner breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Veres thows a leg kick but Bonner checks it
and Bonner counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Veres has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Bonner has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
