Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Gay Al!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Anderson Silva!
The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Daniel Cesar and Mauricio Rocha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Al closes the distance and clinches up with Silva, looking for a takedown. Al pushes Silva against the cage but Silva circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Al fails with the takedown.
Al shoots in but Silva avoids the takedown attempt easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Gay Al. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Nice sprawl there from Silva as Al shoots in.

Al darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Al is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Al is looking to advance position but Silva won't allow it.
Silva wants to get back to his feet.

Al is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Silva doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Al.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Al is trying to work for a kimura but Silva is defending well.

Al seems to be looking for submissions.
Silva tries to kick Al off but Al keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Al is working for an americana but Silva has been sneaky and has managed to get back to half guard, whilst Al was thinking about the submission.
Al prevents Silva from getting back to his feet.
Al works a leg free and moves into half guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Al looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Al is working for a submission of some sort.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Al throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gay Al dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Al tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Silva swivels and escapes.
Horrible takedown by Al or perhaps it was just good defense by Silva which made him look bad.
Al shoots in but no luck this time.

Al closes this distance looking for a takedown but Silva circles away.
Gay Al is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Al has a takedown stuffed.
Al shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Silva but Silva pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Some wild striking there from Silva.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Silva throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Silva looks to land a combination. Al sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Al throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Silva's waist but Silva gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Al off to one side.

Silva throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Al.
Al on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Silva stuffs the takedown.
A nice combination there by Silva.
Silva throws a right and a left that both miss.
Silva tries to clinch there but Al circles away.
Silva throws a head kick that Al semi-blocks.
Silva thuds a left hand into Al's body.
Al takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Silva lands a two punch combo.
Al avoids the head kick by Silva.

Al changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Silva looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Silva is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Al asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Al thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Silva avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Al.

Al wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Silva, who protects the arm well.

Silva wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Al working the strikes but Silva uses the opportunity to regain half guard.

Al is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Silva defends it well.

Silva is defending against the submission attempts here by Al.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Al will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Al misses with a takedown attempt - Silva sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Al shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Silva as he avoids it easily.
No joy there for Silva, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Al shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Silva but Silva pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Al changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Silva tries to avoid it but Al manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Silva to the ground. Silva escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Silva misses with a double jab.
Al shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Anderson Silva showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Silva moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.

Silva keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Al walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

Silva throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Nice takedown defense from Silva. No joy for Al on that attempt.

Silva sizes up Al with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Silva connects with a high kick.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Al blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
With the fighters up against the cage, Silva throws an elbow but misses.
Al on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Al managing to block the knees to the body from Silva.
Al tries to pull guard but Silva won't allow it.
Silva unloads a knee to the mid-section. Al lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.

Silva tries to land knees in the clinch but Al avoids the damage to the body.
Al changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Silva fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Silva throws a head kick that Al semi-blocks.

Silva fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Al shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Silva as he avoids it easily.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Silva lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Silva.
Silva throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Al.
Al shoots for a takedown but Silva saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
A nice inside leg kick there by Silva. That's going to slow Al down.
Silva lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

Silva throws a right and a left that Al avoids nicely.
Al fails to land the takedown.
Silva lands with a slapping head kick.
Silva swinging wilding here.
Silva misses with a few strikes there.
Silva works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Silva looks to score with a jab to the body but Al is just out of range.
Silva lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Al circles away quickly and effectively.
Silva throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Al ducks under a wild hook from Silva.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Al fails to land the takedown.
Al changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Silva tries to avoid it but Al manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Silva to the ground. Silva escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Al shoots in for a double leg but Silva sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Al takes a kick to the side of the head.

Al scores a takedown into full mount!
Silva trying desperately to get to his feet.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Al misses with a head shot.

And that's the end of the fight!
Anderson Silva comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Silva has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
