Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mike Patton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bob Max (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Mike Patton has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Mike Patton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Bob Max!
The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Arvi Lind and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Patton throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Max throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Patton's waist but Patton gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Max off to one side.
Patton misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Patton lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!


It looks like Bob Max has been cut.
Max avoids a punch combination nicely.
Patton throws a right and a left that both miss.
Patton misses with a looping left.
Patton tries for a takedown but Max circles away easily

so Max counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Patton looking to control.
Max controls from within his opponent's guard.

Max thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Patton is breathing heavily.
Max controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Max drops back, looking for a kneebar! Patton looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Patton looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Patton!
Max is trying to improve his position.
Max manages to work his way to half guard, despite Patton's best efforts.
Max is looking to improve his position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Max keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.
Max wants to improve his position but Patton is controlling well.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Max looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Patton misses with a combination

and Max counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Patton!
Max wants to control the pace but Patton is squirming around nicely.

Max moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Patton has worked his arm free - good work by Patton!
Patton is looking to reverse the position.

Max tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Max has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Patton prevents Max from improving position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Max is trying to get an arm triangle but Patton is defending well.
Patton gets back to half guard.
Patton wants to get back to full guard.
Max has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Max swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Patton is now in Max's guard. A big mistake from Max there, giving up the dominant position!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bob Max dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Bob Max's cut.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Patton falls off balance throwing a combination

and Max counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Max tries to free his leg and advance position but Patton is retaining full guard.
Patton is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Patton looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Max puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

Max is trying for a kimura here. Patton looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Max wins by kimura!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:49 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Bob Max!
