The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Date throws a nice inside leg kick.
Date connects with an inside leg kick.
Date lands a nice looking body kick.
Date has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as McCoy is landing a low percentage of strikes.
A head kick misses from Date.
Masamune Date seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

McCoy looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Date is fending him off so far but McCoy persists. Nope, Date circles away and we're back to standing.
McCoy misses with a takedown attempt - Date sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
McCoy stuffs the takedown attempt from Date. Date gets slowly back to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Date tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but McCoy paws at him with a jab and circles away.

McCoy tries to score a power double leg takedown but Date sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten McCoy somewhat.

Date fakes the leg kick and cracks McCoy in the body.
Date wants to clinch up but McCoy keeps it at a distance.

and McCoy counters with a nice double leg into side control. Date won't be happy with that.

McCoy has hold of Date's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Date seems comfortable defending it but McCoy has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Date is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Date is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but McCoy couldn't care less - he's delighted!
