Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Chuck Lightning (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ralph Drysdale (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ralph Drysdale!
The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Jonathan Paton and John Kavanagh.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Drysdale avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Drysdale closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Drysdale is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Lightning defends it well.
Lightning kicks Drysdale off and gets back to his feet.
Drysdale fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Lightning jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Drysdale checks a low kick from Lightning.
Lightning tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Drysdale jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Lightning is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Lightning and Drysdale has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Lightning swats away the attempt to clinch by Drysdale.
Lightning explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.

Drysdale won't let Lightning get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.

Lightning with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Lightning throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
The fight moves into the clinch position.

Drysdale fails to pull guard.
Drysdale pulls guard successfully.
Drysdale is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Lightning stopping the sweep attempt from Drysdale.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Lightning lets loose with a powerful body kick. Drysdale will feel that in the morning.
A slapping leg kick lands for Lightning.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Drysdale crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Lightning - the referee stops the clock and Drysdale gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Lightning. Drysdale manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Lightning's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!
A nice inside leg kick there by Lightning. That's going to slow Drysdale down.

Drysdale changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Lightning looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Lightning has the hand control, trying to stop the rear naked choke.
Lightning takes a big shot to the side of the head.
Even with his hooks in, Drysdale manages to miss with strikes from the back.
Lightning is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Drysdale gets his way!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
