Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Drew McGrath!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Jonathan Paton and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

McGrath fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Allen sprawls well initially but McGrath persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Allen tries to get to full guard but McGrath has control of the leg.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Allen is staying active underneath McGrath, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Allen is trying to get back to full guard.
McGrath is keen to just control but Allen is a slippery customer.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

McGrath looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Allen has picked McGrath up and slammed him! McGrath can't keep hold of the triangle and Allen manages to pass to side control!
The ground and pound from Allen seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Allen has control of an arm but McGrath manages to advance to Allen's back!

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

McGrath tries to get the hooks in deep but Allen pushed the leg off.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
McGrath stopping the sweep attempt from Allen.
Allen is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
McGrath must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Allen throws his legs up looking for a submission but McGrath uses it to pass to side control.

McGrath decides to stand up, so the ref orders Allen to his feet.
McGrath tries to score a power double leg takedown but Allen sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten McGrath somewhat.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

McGrath looks for a takedown but Allen sprawls well.
As McGrath tries to get set, Allen tries to push him back and clinch up but McGrath manages to avoid the attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. And we move into the final round!


Allen displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from McGrath.
Allen went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
McGrath shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

McGrath shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Allen as he jumps to the side.
McGrath takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

McGrath shoots in looking for a takedown. Allen tries to sprawl out of it but McGrath keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Allen manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Allen throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. McGrath tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Allen is in McGrath's guard.
Allen postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Allen would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Allen postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

McGrath is trying to control the position but Allen postures up.
Allen stands up over McGrath, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
McGrath seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Allen's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Allen chips away with some ground and pound.
McGrath looking to control but Allen passes into half guard.

Allen looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

McGrath tries to get to full guard but Allen has control of the leg.
McGrath tries to kick Allen off but Allen keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Allen connects with a nice short shot to McGrath's temple.
Allen throwing shots but McGrath is blocking nicely.
Allen drops an elbow to the side of McGrath's head.

Allen landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
McGrath tries to get to full guard but Allen has control of the leg.
Allen looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks McGrath with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
