Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Tiny Johnson and Gwen Towbar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
gay shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with crawford but crawford pushes him off and we're back to square one.
gay is looking to clinch.
crawford tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
gay lands a nice shot to the body.
gay misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
gay really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Nice sprawl there from crawford as gay shoots in.

and gay counters with a flying knee. Nice.

crawford fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
gay feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

gay turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and gay manages to end up in side control.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

gay tries to stand but his hand is stuck under crawford.
gay stops crawford from getting back to his feet.

john gay overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

gay wants to take a breather but crawford is having none of it.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

and gay cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

gay shoots in looking for a takedown. crawford tries to sprawl out of it but gay keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. crawford manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

gay is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
gay is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

crawford bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in gay's guard.
gay pulls crawford in close to prevent any damage.

gay takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

gay perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
crawford is trying to control but can't.
crawford tries to roll over but gay keeps him under control.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to john gay.
Well gay has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
