PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Drew Peacock (ranked 4128 p4p, 398 weight class) and Johnny Vegas (ranked 7278 p4p, 566 weight class). Vegas comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Ace Of Spades by Motorhead kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 9 - 1, fighting out of New York, Drew Peacock!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Johnny Vegas!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Peacock has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Vegas is working away from the top position though.
Vegas stops Peacock from getting back to his feet.
Peacock wants to control but Vegas is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Peacock throws a sloppy strike from the bottom. He's now off balance and Vegas manages to pass to side control.

Vegas tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Vegas has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Peacock is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Vegas asserts his dominance and retains side control.

That was a close round but I would say that Drew Peacock will probably get the nod.

Peacock tries to close the distance and clinch but Vegas swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Vegas is working Peacock over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Vegas had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Peacock defends it easily.

Vegas escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Peacock gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Vegas throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Peacock.

Peacock does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
