PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Pari Jakh (ranked 9783 p4p, 854 weight class) and Mirko Simic (ranked 6018 p4p, 708 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Simic's choice of entrance music: Beat it. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Pari Jakh!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mirko Simic!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Sosuke Kotani and Shigeki Fujiwara.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jakh tries to clinch but Simic moves away

and Simic decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Jakh's guard.

Simic bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Jakh's guard.

Simic drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Jakh manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Simic has Jakh in his guard.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Simic can do anything to dispel that myth.

Simic tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Simic working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Jakh doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Jakh manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Simic drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Jakh dives on top into guard.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Simic is on top in guard.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Mirko Simic will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Jakh scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Simic manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Jakh keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.

Simic drops back, looking for a kneebar! Jakh looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Jakh looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Jakh!

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Jakh stands up and beckons Simic to his feet.

Jakh tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Simic manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Simic drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Jakh defends it well.
Jakh connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Jakh throws a combination. Simic tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Jakh lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
