PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Travis Wood (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Snatch Dat (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dat is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Bring The Pain. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Travis Wood!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Snatch Dat!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Elvis Blanc and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Dat.
Nice sprawl there from Wood as Dat shoots in.
Dat shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Wood but Wood pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Travis Wood has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Snatch Dat.

and Dat counters with a nice double leg into side control. Wood won't be happy with that.

Dat is trying to get an arm triangle but Wood is defending well.

Dat drops back looking for a leg! Wood is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Wood manages to kick Dat off! Dat jumps back into Wood's guard.

Dat is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Dat postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Wood is on top in guard.

and Dat counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Wood is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Snatch Dat dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Wood shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Dat's guard.

Wood stands up over Dat, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Dat keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Wood throws a right and a left that both miss.

Dat changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Wood looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Wood manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

That was a close second round but I would say that Travis Wood will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Wood looks to land a combination but Dat avoids it well.

Dat shoots for a takedown but Wood saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Wood just misses with a punch to the body.
Wood tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Wood fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Dat manages to avoid it.
Wood throws the left hand but Dat avoids the punch easily.
Wood thows a left - swing and a miss!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Wood gets caught flat footed, as Dat shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Wood is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Dat stands and throws Wood's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Dat wants to control but Wood is keeping him busy.
Wood is looking to reverse the position.

Dat has hold of Wood's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Wood tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Dat cranks the arm and Wood screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Wood, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
