Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Pena Pulkkinen!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 29 - 16 - 1, fighting out of London, Jiu Jitsu!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Phil Schofield and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pulkkinen throws an overhand right that lands on Jitsu's shoulder, as Jitsu tries to avoid the shot.
Jitsu shoots for a takedown but Pulkkinen saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Jitsu clinches with his opponent.
Jitsu tries to land a knee to the head but Pulkkinen blocks with his arms.
Jitsu is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Jitsu jumps guard but Pulkkinen turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Pena Pulkkinen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jiu Jitsu.
Jitsu has Pulkkinen pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Pulkkinen manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Pulkkinen pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Pulkkinen throws a head kick that half lands.


It looks like Jiu Jitsu has been cut.

and Jitsu counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Jitsu thows a huge punch but Pulkkinen dodges it nicely.

Jitsu seems to be working for a kimura but Pulkkinen defends the submission attempt.

Jitsu is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Pulkkinen sees it coming and defends easily.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Pulkkinen is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Jitsu pulls his head out easily.

Jitsu looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Pulkkinen is looking for a sweep. Jitsu is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Pulkkinen has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Jitsu is working away from the top position though.

Pulkkinen is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Jitsu pulls his head out easily.
Pulkkinen won't allow Jitsu to pass to mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jitsu seems to be working for a kimura but Pulkkinen defends the submission attempt.
Jitsu winds up and cracks Pulkkinen with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Pulkkinen is looking to control Jitsu's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Pulkkinen avoid being mounted?
Jitsu with the ground and pound but Pulkkinen uses the opportunity to regain guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jitsu postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Jitsu drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Jitsu jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Pulkkinen is trying to control the position but Jitsu postures up.

Pulkkinen pulls Jitsu in close to prevent any damage.

Jitsu is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Jitsu got a little sloppy there for a moment and Pulkkinen has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Jitsu has managed to get both his arms back between Pulkkinen's legs - danger averted.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Jitsu wants to pass the guard but Pulkkinen is keeping the position.
Jitsu keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Pulkkinen's head.
My spies in London MMA Club inform me that Jitsu has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Pulkkinen is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Jitsu stands up over his opponent, looking to dive in with a big punch. Here he comes, superman style! Oh, the punch misses and Pulkkinen has got him in a triangle choke for good measure! Oh no! Jitsu manages to get his head free but now Pulkkinen has transitioned to an armbar! Jitsu grimaces and is forced to tap! Beautiful Jiu Jitsu from Pulkkinen! I'd be surprised if that didn't end up as submission of the night!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:54 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Pena Pulkkinen!

A very excited looking Pena Pulkkinen made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
