The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hanzo pushes Avila up against the cage in a clinch.

Avila gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Hanzo scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Avila manages to mount him!
Avila controlling from the full mount.
Avila seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Hanzo for as long as he can get away with.
Hanzo's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hanzo takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

Avila working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Hanzo turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Avila off and cradles Hanzo's limp body as Avila celebrates with his corner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:22 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Merlin Avila!
