PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Scott Edgar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chlorenz Banel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Edgar's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Let The Sparks Fly - Thousand Foot Krutch. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Scott Edgar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Chlorenz Banel!
The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Dirk Anderson and Santiago Holmes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Banel throws a sloppy head kick
enabling Edgar to counter with a crisp jab.
Edgar cracks Banel with a right hand to the side of the head.
Banel has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Banel tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Edgar manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
A punch combination from Edgar misses.
Banel misses with a leg kick
and Edgar counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Banel throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Edgar gets tackled into the cage by Banel. Banel maintains the clinch.
Banel's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

We are yet to see a takedown attempt from Banel in the fight. On paper you would think he is the more dominant ground fighter so let's see if these unusual tactics pay off.
