Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Rafael Dominguez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Antonio Alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Antonio Alves has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rafael Dominguez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Antonio Alves!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Luis Engracia and Alexandre Firmino.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alves throws a head kick that misses.
Alves connects with a leg kick. Dominguez looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.

Alves looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Alves is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Dominguez might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Alves wants to pass the guard but Dominguez is defending well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Alves perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Alves has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Dominguez escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Alves gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Alves is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Alves working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Alves slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Alves looking to sit in guard and control but Dominguez gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Alves wants to stand and escape but Dominguez is having none of it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dominguez avoids a kick to the body.
Dominguez went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Dominguez tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Alves defends well and Dominguez ends up having to push Alves into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Alves decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Alves content to control rather than advance.

Alves feints and as Dominguez raises his hands in defense, Alves changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Alves throws a strike but Dominguez rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Alves looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Dominguez has picked Alves up and slammed him! Alves can't keep hold of the triangle and Dominguez manages to pass to side control!

Alves tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Dominguez wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Alves sneaks out the side door and pushes Dominguez away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.

Alves scores with a head kick. Dominguez tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
Alves throws a head kick that misses.
Alves is breathing heavily.

Alves drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
You can see the frustration on Dominguez's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Alves stands up and beckons Dominguez to his feet.

Alves looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Dominguez!

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Alves wants to control but Dominguez is keeping him busy.
Dominguez is trying to control Alves's posture but Alves avoids it.
Dominguez dodges the ground and pound from Alves.
The ground and pound from Alves seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Alves is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Dominguez knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Dominguez jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Alves manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Dominguez swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Alves is now in Dominguez's guard. A big mistake from Dominguez there, giving up the dominant position!

Alves decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Dominguez, up you get!

Alves takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Dominguez is not content to let Alves control the position.

Antonio Alves comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Alves has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
