Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Simon Jensen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and BJ Penn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Jensen might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to On Top of the World. Simon Jensen looks tired to me. Hopefully he has got enough gas left in the tank to put in a good performance.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Simon Jensen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, BJ Penn!
The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Roger Salmon and Colin Fray.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Penn closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Jensen did well to prevent Penn getting side control.
Jensen is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
Penn is pressing down on Jensen's thigh, looking to free his foot. Jensen is holding on for now.
Jensen controlling the position well.
Jensen is not content to let Penn control the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Penn sitting and controlling from the half guard.
Jensen is positioning himself well to prevent Penn advancing to mount.

Jensen is looking to escape.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Penn with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Penn rushes Jensen and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Penn has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Jensen uses from the top position.
Jensen postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Penn told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.
Jensen's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Penn can't keep his opponent in guard - Jensen advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Penn really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jensen. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Jensen is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Jensen's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Penn tries to improve his position but instead Jensen has taken his back!
Jensen really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Penn.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Penn wants to escape the position.
Jensen has good solid back control here.
Penn trying to control the hands but Jensen won't let him.
Penn tries to escape but Jensen has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Penn is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Simon Jensen will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


No luck with that takedown attempt from Jensen.
Penn throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Jensen's head.
Penn tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Jensen counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Penn wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Jensen manages to pass to side control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Penn is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Jensen not doing much here.
Jensen looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
Penn is trying to control but can't.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Penn wants to get back to full guard but Jensen has passed into side control.
Jensen advances nicely into full mount.
Jensen controlling from mount.
Penn is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Penn is breathing heavily.
Jensen looking to control and managing it successfully.

Simon Jensen overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Penn is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Jensen content just to control the position here.
Penn can't escape the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Jensen lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Jensen blocks Penn's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.
Jensen content just to control the position here.
Penn is in a horrible position here. Jensen smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Jensen goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Penn turns into him and now he's in Jensen's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Simon Jensen dominated that second round.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!



Penn gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Jensen is trying to pull guard but Penn turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Jensen is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Penn is defending well.
Penn is looking to break free of the clinch but Jensen has double underhooks.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Penn's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Penn throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Jensen counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Penn takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Jensen prevents Penn from getting back to his feet.
Jensen pushes down on Penn's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Jensen takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Penn wants to control but Jensen is keeping busy.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Penn throws a head kick that misses

and Jensen counters with a nice double leg into side control. Penn won't be happy with that.
Penn is looking to get back to his feet here but Jensen is keeping cool and he's managed to take Penn's back.
Penn is in bad spot here.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Jensen has managed to slip his arm under Penn's chin. This could be all over... yep, Penn is tapping out! Submission win for Jensen.
