PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kal Mal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Midori Kaze (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Midori Kaze!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Robert Douchet and Gregory Folan.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mal throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.

It looks like Midori Kaze has been cut.
Mal tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Kaze manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Mal lands a big head kick that sends Kaze tumbling to the mat! Mal takes a step backwards and waves Kaze back to his feet - he wants the finish!

Kaze is rocked!
Kaze moves away from the strike by Mal.
It seemed like Kaze was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Mal doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Kaze avoids a punch combination nicely.
Mal tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Kaze stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Kaze wants it to stay on the feet.
Mal throws a combination that misses

and Kaze moves into the clinch.
Mal tries to pull guard but Kaze won't allow it.

Kaze jumps guard.
Mal wants to stand and escape but instead Kaze has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Mal wants to sweep here but Kaze controlling him for the moment.

Kaze stands up from Mal's guard - Kaze perhaps looking for a knockout.
Mal doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Kaze counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kal Mal. That's going to take a lot out of him.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Kaze goes for a takedown in the clinch but Mal prevents it.

Kaze turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Mal tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.
Kaze scores with a nice shot to the head of his opponent. Mal is looking for a way out.
Kaze controls the action.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
