Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Carlos Araujo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
6 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jaidee Shinawatra!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Leandro Rodrigues and Daniel Cesar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Araujo shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Shinawatra as he jumps to the side.
Araujo tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Shinawatra was well out of range. Poor timing from Araujo.
Araujo gets a double leg takedown into Shinawatra's guard.
Araujo wants to pass the guard but Shinawatra is keeping the position.
Shinawatra is pulling down on Araujo's head. It's preventing any offense from Araujo, at least for the moment.
Araujo stands up and waves to Shinawatra to follow him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Shinawatra connects with a jab.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Araujo shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Shinawatra sprawls well. Shinawatra wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Araujo gets slowly back to his feet.
Shinawatra let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.
Araujo wants to clinch
and Shinawatra counters with a straight right hand.
Shinawatra uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Jaidee Shinawatra is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Nice takedown defense from Shinawatra. No joy for Araujo on that attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Carlos Araujo. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Shinawatra circles and sees the opportunity to plant his feet and throw a really nice straight left hand that drops Araujo to the canvas! Araujo doesn't know where he is but he's trying to survive - Shinawatra keeps piling on the pressure and forces the referee to step in! This one is aaaaaall over!
