Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Luis Carlos Linhares (ranked 1338 p4p, 67 weight class) and Vincent Oketch (ranked 596 p4p, 28 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 33 - 16 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Luis Carlos Linhares!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 29 - 18 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Vincent Oketch!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Daniel Cesar and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Linhares throws a leg kick
enabling Oketch to counter with a crisp jab.
Linhares looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Linhares looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Oketch was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.
Linhares throws a body kick that misses.
Oketch throws out a counter right but Linhares avoids it with no problem.

Oketch shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Linhares is trying to defend but Oketch finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Linhares looking to force a kimura from the bottom here. He's concentrating on that move too much though and Oketch pushes past his half guard into mount!
Linhares is squirming around, avoiding Oketch's attempts to control the action.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Oketch cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Oketch looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Linhares keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Oketch working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.

Oketch has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Linhares's face.

Oketch is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Linhares can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Oketch has control of Linhares's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Linhares regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Oketch wants to free his trapped foot but Linhares is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Linhares is looking for a sweep. Oketch is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Oketch is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Oketch wants to take a breather but Linhares is having none of it.

Oketch is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Linhares is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Oketch wants to control but Linhares is keeping him busy.
Linhares manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

Vincent Oketch showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


A telegraphed takedown attempt from Oketch is defended easily by Linhares.
Luis Carlos Linhares seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Linhares is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Oketch defends well.

Linhares looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Oketch has picked Linhares up and slammed him! Linhares can't keep hold of the triangle and Oketch manages to pass to side control!

Oketch goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Linhares rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Oketch's guard! Nice work there by Linhares!

Vincent Oketch is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Linhares working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Oketch doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oketch manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Oketch wants to control from the top but Linhares keeps moving.
Oketch slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Linhares throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Oketch escapes and throws Linhares's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Oketch is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Linhares's shoulder. That is not cool.
Linhares regains half guard.
Oketch is trying to control. Linhares wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Oketch is figuring out what he wants to do next.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Linhares misses with a right hand
and Oketch counters with a lovely shot to the body.

Vincent Oketch comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Oketch has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
