Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Rodrigo Calderon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Fox (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). James Fox acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Rodrigo Calderon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, James Fox!
The judges for this bout are Ron Honeybunn, Hugh Johnson and Donatello Bradman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Calderon clinches.

Fox gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Fox is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.

Fox is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Calderon sees it coming and defends easily.
Calderon controlling the position well.
Fox prevents Calderon from improving his position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Fox is thwarting Calderon's attempts to control the position.

Fox seems to be looking for submissions.
Fox controlling the action here.
Fox is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Calderon!
Calderon wants to hold on but Fox pushes him away.
Calderon is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Fox lands a big elbow.

Fox fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Calderon tries to hold on but Fox postures up.

Fox is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Calderon has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Calderon!
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Fox is on top in guard.

Fox engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Calderon pulls Fox in close to his closed guard and prevents Fox from doing any damage or advancing position.
Fox passes easily into side control. Nice work.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Calderon can't do much from the bottom here.
Calderon seems a little lost for a moment, as Fox dominates the positioning.
Fox lands some shots froms side control.
Fox is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Calderon will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Calderon has closed the distance and engaged Fox in a clinch.

Calderon breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Fox closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Calderon is trying to control Fox's posture but Fox avoids it.
Fox moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.

Fox throws an elbow that misses. Calderon uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Fox's guard. Nice move by Calderon!

Fox is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Calderon is controlling him.
Fox wants to sweep but no luck.
Fox has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Calderon's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Fox controls Calderon momentarily but Calderon frees himself.
Fox avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Calderon gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Fox is breathing heavily.
Calderon bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.

Calderon moves into the clinch.

Calderon breaks from the clinch.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Calderon enables Fox to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Calderon manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Calderon is trying to keep Fox in close.
Calderon looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

Calderon throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Fox pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Calderon is keeping the position for now.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Calderon utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Fox being controlled here momentarily.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Fox manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Calderon on his heels. He'll look to pass Calderon's guard now, I'm sure.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.



Calderon instigates a clinch.

Fox wants to sweep here but Calderon controlling him for the moment.
Fox throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
Calderon has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Fox is proving hard to escape from.
Calderon lands a couple of digs.

Calderon is looking to stand up but Fox won't let him.
Fox is striking off his back. Calderon thinks nothing of it though and passes easily into half guard.

Fox has his hands clasped together around Calderon's back. He's all about the action.
Calderon drops an elbow to the side of Fox's head.
Fox is looking for a sweep. Calderon is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Calderon tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Fox.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fox has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Calderon is working away from the top position though.
Fox takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Fox takes a body punch but keeps moving.

Calderon rushes Fox and presses him up against the cage.

Fox has hold of one of Calderon's legs. Calderon is fighting the takedown attempt but Fox gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Fox wants to control from the top but Calderon keeps moving.
Fox prevents Calderon from getting back to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Fox drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Calderon dives on top into guard.

Calderon missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Fox is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Calderon would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
James Fox is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Calderon shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Fox as he jumps to the side.

Calderon has taken the fight to the clinch.

Fox tries a body shot but Calderon blocks it.

Fox has Calderon pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Fox pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Calderon tumbling to the mat - Fox dives into Calderon's guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Rodrigo Calderon showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Calderon has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
