Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Oleg Vlasov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Davis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Oleg Vlasov has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Oleg Vlasov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, James Davis!
The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Roger Salmon and Colin Fray.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vlasov throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.

Davis instigates a clinch.
Davis pressing his opponent against the cage.
Davis is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Vlasov to keep the fight standing.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Davis.
Vlasov misses with some punches.
Vlasov being controlled against the cage.
Davis jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Vlasov walks away with a smile on his face. Davis gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A jab from Vlasov finds it's way through Davis's defenses.
Davis tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Vlasov paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Davis looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Vlasov throws a wild body kick that Davis sees coming a mile off.
Vlasov doesn't manage to clinch there - Davis circles away.

Vlasov gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Davis pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
Davis landing knees to the body.
Davis lands a knee to the head.
Davis manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
We've been hearing reports that Vlasov has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Vlasov has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Davis tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Vlasov smiles and moves away.
Oleg Vlasov has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of James Davis.
Vlasov lands with a good body shot.

Vlasov wants to stand but Davis has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Davis doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

Davis has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Vlasov closes the distance and clinches up with Davis, looking for a takedown. Vlasov pushes Davis against the cage but Davis circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Vlasov scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Vlasov avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Vlasov wants to slow Davis down by chopping away at his legs.

Davis instigates a clinch.
Stalling in the clinch from Davis.
Davis's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Davis wants to take the fight to the mat but Vlasov manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Davis breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Davis shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Vlasov pinned against the cage. Vlasov gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Vlasov dives in and scores a takedown into Davis's guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Davis is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Vlasov landing small, sideways elbows.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Oleg Vlasov dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Vlasov throws a one two combo.
Vlasov tries to score a power double leg takedown but Davis sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Vlasov somewhat.
Vlasov fails with an attempt to clinch.
Vlasov looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Davis fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Vlasov, pushing him back against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Davis is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Vlasov is defending well for now.
Davis prevents Vlasov from breaking the clinch.

Davis manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Davis working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Vlasov doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Vlasov manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Vlasov is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.

Davis thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Vlasov's head.

Vlasov knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Davis on the ground.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Davis in particular looking to stall.

Davis is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Vlasov sees it coming and defends easily.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Davis shoots in and bounces Vlasov off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

James Davis showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Davis lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Davis throws a lazy right hand but Vlasov sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Vlasov shoots in but no luck this time.
Davis is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Davis fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Vlasov avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Vlasov throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Davis's waist but Davis gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Vlasov off to one side.

Vlasov throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Davis wants to sweep but no luck.
Davis wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Vlasov seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Vlasov's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Davis has his foot on Vlasov's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Vlasov works his way back into a safe position though.

Oleg Vlasov is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Davis stuffs the takedown attempt from Vlasov. Vlasov gets slowly back to his feet.
As Vlasov backs off Davis throws a huge counter combo but Vlasov manages to avoid it all.
Sloppy strikes from Vlasov. Those never looked like landing.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Vlasov tries to clinch there but Davis circles away.
Davis moves out of range as Vlasov strikes.
Despite the aggression on Davis's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.

Davis takes the fight into the clinch.
Vlasov has had enough of the clinch but Davis keeps him there for the moment.

Davis gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Vlasov regains guard.
Davis stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Vlasov swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Davis trying to control but Vlasov is working from the bottom.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Davis has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Vlasov is pulling down on Davis's head to control his posture.

And that's the end of the fight!
James Davis comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Davis has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
