Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jose Carlos Luciano (ranked 1663 p4p, 259 weight class) and Rory Macpierre (ranked 5127 p4p, 647 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Andrew Berry and Steven Brown.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Luciano throws a shot to the body.
Both fighters circling a little - Luciano finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Luciano throws the left hand but Macpierre avoids the punch easily.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Macpierre.
Luciano trying to remain calm as Macpierre controls from the top position.
It looks like Macpierre might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Macpierre in particular looking to stall.
Macpierre is looking to pass Luciano's guard but actually Luciano recovers to full guard.

Macpierre goes for a double leg but Luciano avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the ropes as Luciano continues to drive forward.

Luciano lands a nice leg kick that just misses Macpierre's sensitive parts.
Macpierre needs to keep his hands up - Luciano had a free shot at his head there.
Luciano comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Luciano takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Macpierre shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Luciano pinned against the ropes. Luciano gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Macpierre shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Luciano napping and manages to drive through into side control!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Luciano tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Macpierre wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
