Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Izaiah Kane (ranked 5978 p4p, 705 weight class) and Dougie Fairbanks (ranked 7852 p4p, 801 weight class). Dougie Fairbanks is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Dougie Fairbanks!
The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Chad Campbell and Russell Pearce.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck for Kane with that takedown attempt.
Kane gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Kane shoots for a takedown but Fairbanks saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Kane throws a head kick but Fairbanks moves out of range.
Kane throws a sloppy body shot
and Fairbanks counters with a stiff right hand.

Fairbanks is looking for a sweep. Kane is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
We've been hearing good reports from Kane's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Kane uses his free foot to push down on Fairbanks's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Fairbanks.

Kane takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Kane changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Fairbanks tries to avoid it but Kane manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Fairbanks to the ground. Fairbanks escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Kane seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Fairbanks for as long as he can get away with.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Fairbanks throws a solid leg kick but Kane takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Fairbanks.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Izaiah Kane. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Kane shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Kane was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Fairbanks is trying to get back to half guard.
Kane cracks Fairbanks with a big right hand but Fairbanks just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Kane wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Fairbanks, who protects the arm well.
Kane is staying tight to Fairbanks's torso, preventing him from escaping.
And that's the end of the fight!
Izaiah Kane showed his dominance in that final round.
