The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vladimirovich lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Tsuruta has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Tsuruta lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Vladimirovich at a distance.
Tsuruta steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Vladimirovich.

Tsuruta clinches up against the cage.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Vladimirovich.

Tsuruta tries to score a body lock takedown but Vladimirovich shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Tsuruta is pressed up against the cage. Vladimirovich has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Tsuruta down to the mat. Tsuruta avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Tomomi Tsuruta has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Vladimir Vladimirovich.

Tsuruta has gone for a leg lock! Vladimirovich slips out almost immediately though and dives into Tsuruta's guard.

Tsuruta is looking to stand back up but Vladimirovich counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Tsuruta.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Tsuruta wants to control but Vladimirovich is keeping busy and won't allow it.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Vladimirovich looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Tsuruta is not content to let Vladimirovich control the position.

Vladimirovich thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Tsuruta's head.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Tsuruta dives in and grabs Vladimirovich's left leg, looking for a takedown. Vladimirovich pushes down on Tsuruta's head and hops out.
Tsuruta tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Vladimirovich manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Vladimirovich uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.

Vladimirovich has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Tsuruta is trying to keep an underhook but Vladimirovich manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Tsuruta escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Vladimirovich gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Vladimirovich lands a couple of elbows.
Vladimirovich throws a big elbow that misses.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Tsuruta closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Vladimirovich postures up and lands a whopping elbow - oh that's hurt Tsuruta bigstyle! Two more strikes land for Vladimirovich and the fight is over!

Vladimir Vladimirovich decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
