The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rodrigo drops Gomes with a left and a right! Oh, Gomes is hurt - Rodrigo dives into side control looking to finish!

It looks like Carlos Gomes has been cut.

Rodrigo stands up.
Gomes moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Rodrigo steps into range and cracks Gomes with a monster punch that buckles his knees! Gomes flops backwards and Rodrigo dives into his guard looking to finish!

Gomes is rocked!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Gomes working a defensive guard but Rodrigo manages to pass into side control anyway.

Gomes is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Rodrigo pulls his head out easily.
Rodrigo knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Gomes on the ground.
Gomes tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.

Rodrigo gets to his feet - back to striking we go!

Gomes misses with a head kick.
Gomes misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Gomes tries a head kick but it misses.
Gomes moves away from the strike by Rodrigo.
Rodrigo avoids the head kick by Gomes.
Gomes looks gassed!
Rodrigo drops Gomes with a nice combination! Rodrigo dives into Gomes's guard, looking to finish!

Gomes looking for a guillotine here but Rodrigo defends easily.

Rodrigo gets to his feet - Gomes follows without any prompting.
Gomes drops his hands momentarily. Rodrigo doesn't need a second invitation, landing a shot to the temple. Gomes staggers and falls to the mat and the ref dives in to save him from any more punishment. Gomes doesn't seem happy with the stoppage but he was done.
