PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Warren Toastman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brian Thunder (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Toastman comes to the cage accompanied by Shout to the Top. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Warren Toastman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Brian Thunder!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Winston Howard and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Toastman lands with a nice combination. Thunder backs away looking to recover.
Toastman scores with a punch to the head.
Thunder shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Toastman pinned against the cage. Toastman gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Good exchange - Toastman coming out on top.
Toastman wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

Thunder drives through and clinches with Toastman against the cage.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.

Thunder is trying to trip Toastman. He has hold of a leg but Toastman is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Thunder persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Toastman wants to get back to his feet but Thunder is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Toastman uses the cage to get back to his feet.

Thunder looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Toastman is trying to escape back to his feet but Thunder uses the scramble to pass into side control.
Toastman wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Thunder really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Toastman. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Toastman is breathing heavily.
Toastman taking punishment in the form of punches.
Thunder controls the position.
Toastman is pushing Thunder's head away, looking to escape. Thunder manages to hold on to the position though.

Thunder tries for a kimura but Toastman is defending well.
Thunder remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Thunder is trying to get an arm triangle but Toastman is defending well.
Toastman can't do much from the bottom here.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Toastman wants to get back to his feet.
The referee asks Thunder politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Thunder prefers to stall for the moment though.
Toastman wants to get back to his feet but Thunder drags him back down.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Thunder decides to stand back up.

Thunder gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Thunder breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Thunder gets a takedown into half guard.
Thunder tries to pass to full mount but Toastman defends it.
Thunder prevents Toastman from improving his position.
Thunder landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Thunder is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Toastman is trying to stand back up but Thunder is controlling him
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Still in half guard, Thunder seems content to control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Brian Thunder dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Thunder closes this distance looking for a takedown but Toastman circles away.
Toastman tries to clinch up

and Thunder counters with a shoot takedown. Toastman fights it but they end up in guard.
Thunder stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Toastman swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Toastman wants to stand but Thunder is controlling the position.
Thunder pushes down on Toastman's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Toastman is trying to stand.
Toastman tries to kick Thunder off in order to stand up. Thunder Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Toastman tries to escape but Thunder is in control.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Thunder stands up and beckons Toastman to his feet.
Thunder throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Thunder takes a swing at Toastman's ribcage but misses.

and Thunder counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Toastman is looking to escape.
Thunder lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Toastman looks like he's trying to stand up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Toastman is looking to get back to is feet but Thunder passes into side control.
Toastman is trying to buck Thunder off.
Brian Thunder has got the better of the ground game so far.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Thunder throws a combination that misses
and Toastman counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Toastman throws a series of punches but Thunder moves out of range.

Thunder closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Toastman is trying to buck Thunder off.
Toastman wants to get back to his feet but Thunder is dominant here and he's now got Toastman's back!

Thunder is working for the choke. It looks like he might have got it... has he...? Yes! Toastman is tapping out! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:02 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Brian Thunder!
