Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Wilber Lara (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tommy Callaghan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Wilber Lara!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tommy Callaghan!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Chris Downing and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Callaghan gets a takedown into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lara wants to get back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lara trying to hold on to Callaghan's head to control him but Callaghan postures up.
Callaghan is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Callaghan has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Callaghan perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Lara tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lara pushes Callaghan off looking to stand but Callaghan dives back in and keeps control.
Callaghan keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
It looks like Callaghan might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Callaghan keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Callaghan's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Lara wants to clinch up but Callaghan keeps it at a distance.
Lara avoids the head kick by Callaghan.
Callaghan pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
It looked like Lara wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Callaghan rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Lara moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Callaghan feints and as Lara raises his hands in defense, Callaghan changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Lara really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Lara is looking to stand back up but Callaghan counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Lara.

Well, if Callaghan is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Callaghan working over Lara with some ground and pound. Lara looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.

Callaghan passes to side control.
Callaghan creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Lara gets back to half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Callaghan in particular looking to stall.
Lara misses with some strikes from the bottom.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Lara works his way to full guard. Good work.

Lara has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Callaghan is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.
Lara misses with some punches.

Callaghan breaks from the clinch.
Lara tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Callaghan manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Callaghan drives through with a takedown into guard.


Lara is rocked!
Callaghan controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Lara wants to control but Callaghan passes easily into half guard.
Lara is breathing heavily.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Callaghan looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tommy Callaghan dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Callaghan feints with a jab and clips Lara right behind the ear with a massive overhand right! Lara is sent crashing into the canvas and Callaghan leaps in for the kill! Lara tries to get to his feet but Callaghan is just battering him from every conceivable angle. The ref decides that Lara is in need of a savior and steps in!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Tommy Callaghan!
