Coming up we have a middleweight kickboxing rules bout between Joey Boss (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Adam James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

With a record of 2 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Adam James!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Shigeki Fujiwara and Tatsuya Matsuyama.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Boss lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.

It looks like Joey Boss has been cut.
Boss keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from James.
Boss lands a right hook to the body.
Boss swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Boss keeps James at a distance using the push kick.
Boss lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
James uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Boss.
James is looking for the big counter here.

James forces Boss back against the ropes and clinches.
James lands a nice elbow.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Boss.

James walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Boss scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
James takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

James now looks to counter with a shot at the body.

Boss pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces James back to the ropes. Boss follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
James throws a series of punches but Boss avoids them all with ease.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Boss seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.

It seemed like James was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

letting James counter with a right hand.

James has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.

Boss scores with a jab and follows up with an uppercut that drops James to his knees! He bounces straight back to his feet but is forced to take the mandatory standing 8 count before he's allowed to continue. We're back under way and the fighters meet in the middle of the canvas to re-engage.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

and James makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Boss uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by James.

James breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Boss throws a lazy right hand but James sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Boss is looking to wear down James with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Boss throws a nice looking combination but James bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
It seemed like James was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

James gets a clinch.

James escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

James might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
James takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.

James rushes Boss and pushes him back against the ropes in a clinch.
James comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
James lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Boss backwards.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

James pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Boss fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches James on the side of the head.
James swings for the body but Boss moves out of range.
Boss takes one to the side of the head.

Boss misses with a few strikes there.
Danga de danga de dang - Boss scores with a four punch combination!
Boss misses with a series of wild punches.
Boss throws a leg kick

and James counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by James.
Boss's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!

James breaks the clinch.
Boss cracks James with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Boss misses with a double jab
and James counters with a straight right hand.

Joey Boss is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

James moves into the clinch successfully.

Boss blocks an elbow strike.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
Adam James seems to be working more effectively in the clinch in the fight so far.

James breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
James works over Boss's head and body with a nice combination.
Adam James has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Boss misses with the combination.
James ducks right into an uppercut from Boss.
James is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Boss.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Joey Boss.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Boss, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
