With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, James Ejayi!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Jeff Smith and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ejayi tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Ekanga was well out of range. Poor timing from Ejayi.

We've been hearing reports that Ekanga has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.

Ejayi closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Ekanga quickly recovers to half guard.
Ejayi is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Ekanga reverses the position - he's now on top in Ejayi's guard.

Ejayi pushes Ekanga off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Ejayi escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Ejayi cracks Ekanga with a good jab.

Ejayi moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Ejayi ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Ekanga moves away.
Sloppy strikes from Ejayi. Those never looked like landing.
Ekanga seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Ekanga takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Ejayi displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Ekanga.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ekanga Ekanga. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Ejayi lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Ejayi.

Ejayi fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Ejayi is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.

Ejayi is pawing at Ekanga, trying to feel the distance before throwing out a cross that crashes into Ekanga's nose. Ekanga is badly hurt! Ejayi pounces, throwing wild strikes as both fighters end up on the ground! Ekanga tries desperately to hold on but Ejayi is relentless in his assault! As Ekanga receives an ever increasing number of unanswered strikes the referee pulls Ejayi away and this one is in the books!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:10 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). James Ejayi!
