PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kwiwan Fogomayu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carlos Strikes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fogomayu's entrance music is Kyamadu. A fine choice. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 10 - 2, fighting out of London, Kwiwan Fogomayu!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 43 - 40 - 2, fighting out of London, Carlos Strikes!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, Chris Edwards and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A lazy body kick from Strikes

and Fogomayu counters with a shoot takedown. Strikes fights it but they end up in guard.
Fogomayu slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Fogomayu looking to pass the guard.
Fogomayu with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Fogomayu content to stall in guard here.
Strikes is trying to control the position but Fogomayu postures up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Fogomayu is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Fogomayu stands up over Strikes, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Strikes utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Fogomayu has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Strikes not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Fogomayu rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Strikes moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Fogomayu tries to land a front kick but Strikes steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Strikes just misses with a punch to the body.
Fogomayu connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Fogomayu keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Strikes throws a sloppy head kick and Fogomayu moves out of range easily.

and Fogomayu counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Fogomayu is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Strikes doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Fogomayu.
Fogomayu content to control rather than advance.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Strikes wants to control but Fogomayu is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Fogomayu drops an elbow to the side of Strikes's head.

Fogomayu with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Strikes tries to roll over but Fogomayu keeps him under control.

Fogomayu is nestled in close to Strikes, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Ground and pound from Fogomayu.
Fogomayu working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
We've been informed that Strikes has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Fogomayu not doing much here.
Fogomayu not landing any meaningful shots this time.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Strikes is trying to control but can't.
Fogomayu winds up and cracks Strikes with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kwiwan Fogomayu dominated that round.
That's time! Fogomayu's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Fogomayu lands a really nice looking cross but Strikes seems unphased.
Strikes misses with a body punch
and Fogomayu counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Strikes wants to clinch but Fogomayu slips to the side
and Fogomayu counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Fogomayu throws out a powerful jab.
Strikes plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
A thudding body kick lands there by Strikes!
Strikes fails with an attempt to clinch.
Strikes tries for a takedown but Fogomayu circles away easily
and Fogomayu makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Fogomayu blocks a head kick by Strikes.
Strikes steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Fogomayu. That one must have hurt.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Fogomayu lands a jab to Strikes's midsection.
Strikes is breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Fogomayu connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.


It looks like Carlos Strikes has been cut.
Strikes is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Fogomayu is looking to counter with a body kick.
Fogomayu scores with a sloppy right hand. Strikes should have avoided that one.
Thud! ouch! good body kick from Fogomayu - that will leave a mark!
The fight stays on the outside here - Strikes looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Strikes is looking to clinch but Fogomayu is avoiding it.
Fogomayu with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Strikes takes one to the chin there.
Fogomayu fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Strikes looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Fogomayu buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Strikes tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Fogomayu counters with a left to the body.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Fogomayu is looking to slow Strikes down with leg kicks.
Strikes gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
enabling Fogomayu to counter with a crisp jab.
Fogomayu lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Fogomayu throws a nice inside leg kick.
Fogomayu lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
A shot to the liver by Fogomayu. Beautiful body shot.

Fogomayu scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Strikes doesn't seem bothered though.
That kick from Fogomayu tenderised Strikes's leg. Strikes is trying to keep his angry face on.

That has opened up Carlos Strikes's cut even more.
Carlos Strikes is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Fogomayu dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Strikes. That did some damage!
Strikes tries to close the distance and clinch up but Fogomayu swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Fogomayu closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Fogomayu is chipping away with strikes.
Strikes is trying to improve his position.
Strikes seems a little lost for a moment, as Fogomayu dominates the positioning.

Strikes tries to strike from the bottom but misses.
Fogomayu creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
You can see the frustration on Strikes's face as Fogomayu controls the position.
Fogomayu connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Strikes some visible discomfort.


The cut above Carlos Strikes's eye is starting to cause him problems now.

Carlos Strikes's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Carlos Strikes's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Kwiwan Fogomayu!
After winning the bout, Kwiwan Fogomayu thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
