PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jack Special (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yogg Saron (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Special's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Getting Away with Murder. Saron has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jack Special!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Yogg Saron!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Daniel Franklin and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Special looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Special is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Saron on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Special has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Special looking to control and managing it successfully.
Special tries to control but Saron wriggling away.

That's one minute gone in the round.
BOOM! Special connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Special has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Saron looks gassed!
Saron is desperately trying to improve his position but Special has a good base and remains in mount.
Saron is bucking up trying to escape but Special cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Special takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Saron taking shots to the head.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Saron can do anything to dispel that myth.
Special controlling the position easily from mount.
Special working the ground and pound effectively.
Special tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Special can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Saron is looking to escape.
Saron tries to hold on but Special pushes him away.
Special is landing with some decent strikes but Saron is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Special with shots to the head and body - Saron looks very uncomfortable down there.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The referee warns Saron that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Special takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Saron wants to hold on but Special pushes him away.
Special looking to finish Saron with some ground and pound. This is bad for Saron!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Special tries to control but Saron wriggling away.

Special looking to secure an arm triangle but Saron defends it well.
Special wants to control the pace but Saron is squirming around nicely.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Special looking to control and managing it successfully.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Jack Special just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Special dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Saron. That did some damage!

Special closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Special has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Special lands with a slapping head kick.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Saron shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Special but Special pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Special clinches up against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jack Special dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



Special changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Saron looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Saron struggling a bit here.
Special trying to control the action but Saron is working from the bottom.
Saron is looking for a sweep.

Special thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Special in side control, just content to control the action for now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Saron tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Special stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Jack Special is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Special closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Special lands in his opponent's guard.

Special stands up from Saron's guard - Special perhaps looking for a knockout.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A head kick by Saron misses

and Special counters with a nice double leg into side control. Saron won't be happy with that.
Saron is trying to control Special's posture but Special avoids it.

Special is trying to get an arm triangle but Saron is defending well.
Saron gets back to half guard.

Special gets to his feet - back to striking we go!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Saron tries to clinch

and Special counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Saron!
Saron is squirming around, avoiding Special's attempts to control the action.
Saron really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

Special looking to secure an arm triangle but Saron defends it well.
Saron keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Special is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Saron can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Saron is desperately trying to improve his position but Special has a good base and remains in mount.

Special is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!
Saron shoots for a double leg takedown but Special sprawls well. He's pushed Saron's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

so Saron counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Saron controls from within his opponent's guard.
Saron with a flurry of punches that miss.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jack Special dominated that second round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Saron throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Jab by Special.
Special shoots in looking for a takedown. Saron tries to sprawl out of it but Special keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Saron manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Special takes the fight into the clinch.

Special's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Special lands a nice looking body shot.

Special decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Special wants to take a breather but Saron is having none of it.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Special lands strikes from half guard.
Special is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Saron can do to turn this around?
Special passes to side control.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Special remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Special is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Saron has escaped the position, nice work there.
Special avoids the strikes from the bottom by Saron.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Saron is looking for a sweep.
Saron wants to control but Special postures up.
Special scoring with punches and elbows.
Special has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Special trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Special controlling from mount.

Special wants to finish this one by submission but Saron is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Special.
Yogg Saron has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Special landing strikes from the mount.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Special lands a nice shot to the head.
Special looking to control and managing it successfully.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Special cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Saron is looking to get to half guard.
Saron tries to hold on but Special pushes him away.
Special looking to control but Saron is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Jack Special is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jack Special showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Special has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
