Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Steve McDoughe!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mason Roth!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Josh West and Jeff Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Roth has McDoughe up against the cage in a clinch.
McDoughe throws a head punch that misses.
McDoughe tries to stall but Roth uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Roth misses with an elbow strike.
Roth throws a blind hook that connects with the side of McDoughes head.
McDoughe definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Roth lands a right hand.
Roth has McDoughe pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. McDoughe manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Roth has a couple of punches blocked by McDoughe.
McDoughe is trying to drag Roth to the mat but Roth just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Roth lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
McDoughe makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Roth lands a head shot.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Roth lands with a shot to the body.
McDoughe shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
McDoughe checks the leg kick nicely there.
Roth clinches up with McDoughe and pushes him back against the cage.
McDoughe has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Roth after a bit of a struggle.
Roth ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Roth no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
McDoughe is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
McDoughe has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Roth to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! McDoughe is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Roth pulls down on the head and he's put McDoughe to sleep! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:52 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Mason Roth!
