PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Spencer Cobb (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Diocy Pereira (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pereira has chosen Battery - Metallica as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Spencer Cobb!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Diocy Pereira!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Chad Campbell and Russell Pearce.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Cobb tries to keep at a distance but Pereira has taken the fight into the clinch.
Pereira is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Cobb is defending well.

Cobb is fighting off a takedown attempt but Pereira is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Cobb to the mat. Cobb regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Pereira content to stall in guard here.
Cobb tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Pereira engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Pereira chips away with some ground and pound.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Pereira controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Let's hope that Pereira has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Cobb really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Pereira connects with a couple of short punches.
Cobb lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Cobb drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Pereira manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Cobb has Pereira in his guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Pereira is stalling in the full guard.
Pereira throws a big elbow that misses.
Cobb will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Pereira's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Pereira's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
It looks like Pereira might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Pereira connects with a couple of short punches.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Cobb manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Pereira manages to get himself to full guard.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Pereira pushes Cobb off and gets back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Diocy Pereira dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Pereira gets a clinch.

Pereira has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Cobb clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Pereira connects with a big shot to the side of Cobb's head.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cobb covers up after taking a massive shot to the side of the head.
Pereira biding his time, looking for the opening.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Pereira controlling well, preventing Cobb from escaping the position.
A bit of a pause in the action here. Pereira controlling the positon.

Pereira lands punches and elbows.
Cobb covers up after that shot from Pereira.

Cobb is rocked!
Pereira has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Cobb's body.
Oh Cobb is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Pereira is landing big shots and Cobb is squirming looking to escape! He can't escape though and the ref jumps in to end the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:48 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Diocy Pereira!
After the fight, Diocy Pereira was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
