Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Man Whitaker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jong Son Park (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Man Whitaker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jong Son Park!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Shirou Masuda and Yuuki Gou.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Park avoids a punch combination nicely.
Park looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.

Whitaker closes the distance and clinches.
Park is trying to pull guard but Whitaker turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Whitaker works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.

Whitaker drops back looking for a leg! Park is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Park manages to kick Whitaker off! Whitaker jumps back into Park's guard.

Whitaker knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Park on the ground.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Whitaker wants to pass the guard but Park is keeping the position.

Park is looking for a sweep. Whitaker is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Park shoots in and drives through. Whitaker sprawls well.

Park shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Whitaker as he jumps to the side.
Man Whitaker has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jong Son Park.
Whitaker throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Park tries to keep at a distance but Whitaker has taken the fight into the clinch.

Whitaker shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Park's guard.

and Whitaker counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Whitaker closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Park to the mat! Park manages to get full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Whitaker slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Whitaker is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Park can do to turn this around?

Whitaker has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Whitaker decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Park, up you get!
Park misses with a takedown attempt

and Whitaker holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Whitaker breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Whitaker forces Park back against the cage and clinches.
Park has had enough of the clinch but Whitaker keeps him there for the moment.

Whitaker's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Park changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Whitaker tries to avoid it but Park manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Whitaker to the ground. Whitaker escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Man Whitaker has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jong Son Park.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Whitaker looking to score a takedown here. Park is defending well but Whitaker drives through and ends up in Park's guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Park is working an open guard so Whitaker takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Park dives in and grabs Whitaker's left leg, looking for a takedown. Whitaker pushes down on Park's head and hops out.
Whitaker appears to be looking for a counter takedown.

Whitaker forces Park back against the cage and clinches.

Whitaker's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Whitaker looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Park!

Well Whitaker has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
