PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Griffin Glass (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kazuo Mizakota (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Glass's entrance music is run to the hills- iron maiden. A fine choice. Mizakota has chosen Hero's Come Back!! by nobodyknows┼ as his entrance music. Kazuo Mizakota is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Griffin Glass!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kazuo Mizakota!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Gwen Towbar and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mizakota changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.

Mizakota forces Glass back against the cage and clinches.
Mizakota lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Glass or not.
Mizakota scores a nice knee to the body.
Glass wants a takedown but no success here.
Glass's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Glass goes for a takedown in the clinch but Mizakota prevents it.
Mizakota lands a knee to the body.
Glass is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Mizakota pulls him back up using the underhooks.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Griffin Glass. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Mizakota's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Mizakota comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Glass is breathing heavily.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Mizakota decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Mizakota throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Mizakota looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Mizakota trying to mount his opponent but Glass defends it.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Mizakota tries to pass to full mount but Glass defends it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mizakota working the head and body with strikes.
Mizakota controlling the pace.
Mizakota is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Mizakota connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Mizakota controlling the position easily from mount.

Mizakota trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Mizakota sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

Despite being in the dominant position, Kazuo Mizakota just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Glass doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Mizakota counters with a good, hard body kick but Glass shrugs it off.

Mizakota gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Glass takes a knee right on the jaw!
Mizakota lands a right hand.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Mizakota working some nice short punches in the clinch.
Mizakota throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Mizakota.
Mizakota crunches a lovely knee into Glass's ribcage.
A short body shot lands from Mizakota as the two fighters clinch.
Mizakota lands with a short shot to the head.
Mizakota scores a nice knee to the body.
Mizakota lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.
Mizakota landing knees to the body.
A short body shot lands from Mizakota as the two fighters clinch.

Mizakota breaks from the clinch.
Mizakota lets loose with a powerful body kick. Glass will feel that in the morning.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Mizakota lands a jab followed by a vicious hook that sends Glass sprawling to the canvas. Mizakota follows him down, looking for the kill. Can Glass hang on?


Glass is rocked!
Mizakota looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Oh Glass is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Mizakota passes to full mount!
Glass seems to have got his legs back now.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Glass in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
Glass tries to improve his position but instead Mizakota has taken his back!

Mizakota working from the back looking to end the fight with a rear naked choke. Glass is doing well to defend. Mizakota seems to have got his hand under the chin though and he's sunk the choke in! Glass is forced to tap and this one is over!
