Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between James Daniels (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Christian Neffgen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, James Daniels!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Christian Neffgen!
The judges for this bout are Winston Alpacca, Bart Greer and Peter Branson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

A momentary lapse in concentration from Neffgen enables Daniels to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Neffgen manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Daniels throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Neffgen manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Daniels manages to get himself to full guard.

Daniels is pulling down on Neffgen's head. It's preventing any offense from Neffgen, at least for the moment.
Daniels continues to stall.
Neffgen wants to stand but Daniels has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Neffgen is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Neffgen wants to get up but he can't break Daniels's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Daniels has control of Neffgen's left arm, preventing Neffgen from doing any damage.
Daniels has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Neffgen sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Daniels's guard.

Neffgen is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Daniels might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Daniels fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Daniels feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Daniels has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Daniels seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Neffgen is on top in guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Neffgen drops back looking for a leg! Daniels is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Daniels manages to kick Neffgen off! Neffgen jumps back into Daniels's guard.
Daniels knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Neffgen on the ground.
Neffgen throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Daniels works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Daniels is pulling down on Neffgen's head to control his posture.
Neffgen wants to stand but Daniels has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Daniels looking for a sweep. Not yet Daniels, not yet.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Neffgen shoots in for a double leg but Daniels sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Daniels seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Good standup being displayed there by Neffgen as he connects with a hook.

Daniels pushes Neffgen up against the cage in a clinch.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Daniels has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Neffgen regains guard immediately.
Daniels connects with a couple of short punches.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that James Daniels will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Neffgen doesn't manage to clinch there - Daniels circles away.

Daniels shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Neffgen's guard.

Neffgen is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Daniels defends well.

Daniels makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Daniels not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Daniels moves into the clinch.

Daniels goes for a takedown attempt but Neffgen pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Daniels throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Neffgen tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Daniels is in Neffgen's guard.

Daniels stuffs the takedown attempt from Neffgen. Neffgen gets slowly back to his feet.
Neffgen shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Daniels as he jumps to the side.

Daniels is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Daniels seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Daniels looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

Neffgen is looking to escape.
Daniels is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Neffgen can do to turn this around?
Neffgen takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Neffgen is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Daniels scores with a couple of nice shots.

Daniels takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Neffgen is still in real trouble! Can Daniels finish him?
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Neffgen wants to control but Daniels is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Daniels scores with a big shot! Neffgen's head bounced off the canvas with a huge thud! More strikes land and the referee has jumped in to save Neffgen! He was hurt real bad - good stoppage!
