The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lesley has closed the distance and engaged Carter in a clinch.
Carter tries to pull guard but Lesley holds him up against the cage and eventually Carter drops back down to his feet.

Carter gets control of Lesley's arms and successfully pulls guard. Carter will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Lesley drops back, looking for a kneebar! Carter looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Carter looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Carter!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
