Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Rico Gonzalez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Franklin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, James Franklin!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Franklin tests Gonzalez's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Gonzalez shoots in and drives through. Franklin sprawls well.
Gonzalez fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Franklin avoids it really well and circles away.
Franklin looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Gonzalez throws a sloppy head kick and Franklin moves out of range easily.
Franklin unleashes a big counter combination but Gonzalez bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
Franklin works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Franklin looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Franklin throws a shot from downtown. Gonzalez moves away and avoids it.
Gonzalez is looking to clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Gonzalez shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Franklin but Franklin pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Franklin lands with an uppercut that bounces Gonzalez off the cage and back into range.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Franklin tries to bum rush Gonzalez with a series of wild strikes but Gonzalez uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Gonzalez's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Franklin connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Gonzalez scrambles back to his feet.
Franklin has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Franklin scores with a jab. Gonzalez acknowledges it with a nod of the head.

Gonzalez tries to score a power double leg takedown but Franklin sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Gonzalez somewhat.
Franklin keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
This has been an exciting period of action!

and Franklin counters with a stiff right hand.
Gonzalez moves away from the strike by Franklin.
Gonzalez shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Franklin counters with a three punch combo that has Gonzalez backing up. Gonzalez nods at Franklin to acknowledge the strikes.

Franklin works the jab nicely.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Franklin, as that shot connected.

Gonzalez shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Franklin as he avoids it easily.
Gonzalez works over Franklin's head and body with a nice combination.

Gonzalez takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Oh Gonzalez is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Rico Gonzalez is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
and Franklin counters with a massive uppercut that badly hurts Gonzalez! He's just covering up as Franklin starts to tee off till the referee steps in and stops the fight!
