Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jody Alvarez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Gotti (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gotti is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Money. Jody Alvarez has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jody Alvarez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, John Gotti!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Seu Braga and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Alvarez clinches up with Gotti and pushes him back against the cage.
Alvarez wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Gotti has him pressed against the cage.
Gotti has Alvarez pressed against the cage.

Gotti turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!

Gotti tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Alvarez is pushing Gotti's head away, looking to escape. Gotti manages to hold on to the position though.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Gotti is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Alvarez has escaped the position, nice work there.
Gotti blocks the strikes from Alvarez.
Gotti wants to control but Alvarez is keeping him busy.

Gotti tries to move into full mount but can't pass Alvarez's legs.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Alvarez wants to get back to his feet but Gotti drags him back down.
Alvarez is not content to let Gotti control the position.
Alvarez stops Gotti from passing to mount.
Alvarez is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Gotti tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Gotti is looking to take a break and control but Alvarez is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Alvarez is trying to get back to his feet.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Alvarez is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Alvarez is in trouble now - Gotti has advanced to mount!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Gotti goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Alvarez is on top in guard.

Alvarez could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Gotti wants to stand up but Alvarez is controlling him.

Gotti scrambles and gets back to his feet.

Gotti shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Gotti looks winded!
Alvarez is trying to stand.
Alvarez flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

Alvarez moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Gotti stops Alvarez from standing up.

Alvarez pushes Gotti off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
John Gotti seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Gotti looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Alvarez!

Alvarez explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Gotti shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Alvarez napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Alvarez tries to bench press Gotti off him but Gotti keeps the position.
Gotti is looking to take a break and control but Alvarez is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Jody Alvarez will probably get the nod.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Alvarez blocks a jab.

Alvarez gets caught napping as Gotti dives in and scores a takedown. Alvarez manages to retain guard.
Gotti wants to control from the top but Alvarez keeps moving.

Alvarez is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Gotti defends well.

Gotti seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Alvarez does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Gotti frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Gotti looking to control but Alvarez is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
John Gotti has got the better of the ground game so far.
Gotti pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

Gotti lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Alvarez is trying to get back to his feet but can't.
Alvarez slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Alvarez is pressing down on Gotti's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Gotti trying to control the position from guard on top but Alvarez is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Gotti postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Alvarez is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Gotti, into his guard.

Alvarez continues to stall.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Alvarez thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Gotti working for submissions but it's allowed Alvarez to get to half guard.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John Gotti showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!



Alvarez tries to keep at a distance but Gotti has taken the fight into the clinch.
Alvarez is trying to pull guard but Gotti turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Alvarez got a little sloppy there for a moment and Gotti has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Alvarez has managed to get both his arms back between Gotti's legs - danger averted.
Gotti takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Alvarez is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Gotti looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Alvarez looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Alvarez tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Alvarez tries to close the distance and clinch up but Gotti swats him away and circles back towards the center.
And Gotti responds with a good body kick, but Alvarez manages to step out the way in time.

No joy there for Gotti, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Gotti tries to free his leg and advance position but Alvarez is retaining full guard.

Alvarez wants to get back to his feet but Gotti is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Gotti wants to control from the top but Alvarez keeps moving.
Gotti pushing down on Alvarez's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.

Gotti stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Alvarez tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Gotti paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Alvarez gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Alvarez jumps guard but Gotti turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jody Alvarez. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Alvarez is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Gotti gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Gotti gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Alvarez regains guard.

Alvarez kicks Gotti off and gets to his feet.

Gotti closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Alvarez to the mat! Alvarez manages to get full guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Alvarez might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Alvarez tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Gotti sitting in guard, not really doing much.
The adventures of Gotti the control monster continue. Boring.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Gotti is looking to advance position but Alvarez has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

John Gotti comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Gotti has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
