The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tiernan takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.

It looks like Michael Burton has been cut.
Tiernan tries to close the distance and clinch up but Burton swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Burton avoids the head kick by Tiernan.
Tiernan throws a shot from downtown. Burton moves away and avoids it.
Burton has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Tiernan sizes up Burton with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Tiernan works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Tiernan lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Burton at a distance.

Tiernan moves in looking to clinch but Burton pushes him off.

Burton has Tiernan pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Burton pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Tiernan tumbling to the mat - Burton dives into Tiernan's guard.

Burton wants to control from the top but Tiernan keeps moving.

Tiernan is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Burton wants to control the action here but instead Tiernan manages to pass to full mount!
Tiernan takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Tiernan's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Burton wants to hold on but Tiernan pushes him away.

It looked like Tiernan was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

Tiernan lands a left and a right that send Burton crashing to the mat, dazed. Tiernan thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

Tiernan connects with a stiff jab that staggers Burton - oh and he follows up with a huge uppercut that knocks him out cold! Man, that was brutal!
