PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ackroyd Bloggs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jaysan Khule (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Ackroyd Bloggs!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jaysan Khule!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Marco Blurström and Tarja Halkonen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Khule throws a right and a left that Bloggs avoids nicely.
Khule has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Bloggs is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Bloggs shoots in for a takedown but Khule shows good takedown defense.
The fight stays on the outside here - Khule looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Khule changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Bloggs looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Khule is staying tight to Bloggs's torso, preventing him from escaping.
What's Bloggs going to do here then? He's in a bit of a pickle.
Bloggs is looking for a sweep.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Khule thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Khule lands a nice short elbow.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Khule is looking to work some ground and pound but Bloggs has wrist control.
Bloggs really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Khule throws an elbow that misses. Bloggs uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Khule's guard. Nice move by Bloggs!

Bloggs controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Bloggs postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Khule pushes Bloggs off and scrambles back to his feet.
Horrible takedown attempt by Bloggs or perhaps it was just good defense by Khule, which made it look bad.

Khule shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Bloggs.
Khule throws a big counter head kick but Bloggs avoids it with no problem.

Khule fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Bloggs avoids it really well and circles away.

Bloggs has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Khule avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Bloggs is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Khule to keep the fight standing.

Khule has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Khule is fighting to break Bloggs's control of his arms but Bloggs is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Bloggs manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Khule manages to get himself to full guard.

Khule is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Bloggs gets to his feet. Khule looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Bloggs shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Khule but Khule pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Bloggs has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Khule avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Khule ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Khule no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Khule can do anything to dispel that myth.
Bloggs passes Khule's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Bloggs will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Khule is trying to push Bloggs away but Bloggs has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Bloggs is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Khule defends well.

Bloggs is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Khule presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
Khule jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Bloggs walks away with a smile on his face. Khule gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Khule's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
A clash of legs there as Khule blocks the low kick.
Bloggs shoots in for a double leg but Khule sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Ackroyd Bloggs showed his dominance in that final round.

Ackroyd Bloggs opened up his post fight interview with a scream to camera that he wants a title shot! Whether he deserves the shot will be up to the management of the organization, so I guess he'll have to wait and see.
