Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Barry Butcher!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Mikey Timmons!
The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Konstantin Menshow and Igor Prikhodko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Butcher closes the distance and pushes Timmons back into the cage.
Butcher misses with some punches.
Butcher doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Butcher misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Timmons tries to score a body lock takedown but Butcher shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Timmons wants to take the fight to the mat but Butcher manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Timmons is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Butcher to keep the fight standing.
Barry Butcher has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mikey Timmons.
Butcher misses with a hook to the ribs.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Butcher creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Timmons's coach down at The Bear's Den ($300) was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Timmons's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Still in the clinch, Butcher scores with a nice short uppercut.
Butcher goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Butcher gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Timmons.
Timmons is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Butcher scores with a nice hook to the head.
Timmons blocks an uppercut.
Butcher scores with a shot to the side of Timmons's head.
A right hand to the body from Butcher.

Butcher lands an uppercut that drops Timmons! Butcher follows him to the canvas looking to finish.


Timmons is rocked!


It looks like Mikey Timmons has been cut.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Butcher remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Butcher tries for a kimura but Timmons is defending well.
Timmons gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Butcher misses with a head shot.
Butcher content just to control the position here.
Butcher sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

Butcher looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Butcher throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Butcher lands a big shot there that rocks Timmons but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Timmons is bucking up trying to escape but Butcher cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Butcher has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Timmons tries to hold on but Butcher postures up.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Timmons can do anything to dispel that myth.
Butcher sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Butcher trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Timmons keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Butcher working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Timmons turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Butcher off and cradles Timmons's limp body as Butcher celebrates with his corner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:54 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Barry Butcher!
Barry Butcher retains his heavyweight title!
A relieved looking Barry Butcher thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
