Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Collin Velasquez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hasil Farrell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Collin Velasquez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Hasil Farrell!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Sosuke Kotani and Yasuomi Hirokawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Farrell throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.

Velasquez closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Velasquez tries for a takedown but Farrell manages to get underhooks.

Velasquez lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Velasquez prevents Farrell from standing back up.
Farrell wants to stand back up but Velasquez manages to pass into side control.
Farrell is looking to get back to his feet here but Velasquez is keeping cool and he's managed to take Farrell's back.
Farrell wants to get back to his feet.
What can Farrell do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!
Velasquez really is a fat lump.

Farrell is trying to get back to his feet but Velasquez has full control of the position and if anything, Farrell has just worked his way into a worse spot.

Velasquez seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Farrell for as long as he can get away with.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Farrell is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
Velasquez is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.

Velasquez just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Velasquez is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Farrell is trying to stand back up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Farrell connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Velasquez tries to clinch there but Farrell circles away.
Farrell comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Velasquez doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Velasquez clinches with his opponent.

Farrell wants to get back to striking at distance but Velasquez won't allow it.

Velasquez manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Velasquez lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Velasquez controls from within his opponent's guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Farrell can do anything to dispel that myth.

Velasquez stands up from Farrell's guard - Velasquez perhaps looking for a knockout.
Farrell throws a good cross that connects.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Farrell misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Velasquez seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
Farrell misses with a few strikes there.
Farrell lands a glancing blow to the side of Velasquez's head.
Velasquez is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Farrell can do to turn this around?
A cross from Farrell lands.
Hasil Farrell seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Farrell looks to land a combination. Velasquez sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Velasquez gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Farrell counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Velasquez thinking.

Farrell scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
A decent looking cross lands there for Farrell.
Farrell bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Velasquez's head backwards.

Farrell tries to keep at a distance but Velasquez has taken the fight into the clinch.
Farrell wants to break free but Velasquez has control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A frustrated look appears on Farrell's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Velasquez drags the fight down to the ground.
Farrell must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Velasquez is on top in guard.


Velasquez gets to his feet. Farrell looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Velasquez shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Farrell pinned against the cage. Farrell gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Velasquez takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hasil Farrell showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Velasquez manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Velasquez has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Farrell doesn't defend quickly enough and Velasquez has managed to lock this one up! Can Farrell escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Velasquez on a fantastic submission victory.
