Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Alexey Potapenko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michael Vaugh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Vaugh's choice of entrance music: Bad Day. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Alexey Potapenko!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 10 - 0, fighting out of London, Michael Vaugh!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Vaugh gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Potapenko to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Potapenko throws a big elbow that misses.
Potapenko is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at Russian Top Team Elite Gym that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.

Vaugh is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Potapenko defends well.
Potapenko wants to control from the top but Vaugh keeps moving.

Potapenko sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Vaugh's guard.

Potapenko is nestled in close to Vaugh, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Vaugh wants to improve his position but Potapenko is controlling well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Vaugh is refusing to be controlled, as Potapenko sits in half guard.
Vaugh tries to roll over but Potapenko keeps him under control.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Potapenko lands a nice short elbow.
Potapenko looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Vaugh with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!

Potapenko wants to free his trapped foot but Vaugh is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Potapenko looks up at the clock and then as Vaugh takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Potapenko smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Potapenko lands a decent elbow from side control.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Potapenko connects with a nice short shot to Vaugh's temple.

Vaugh has hold of Potapenko's hands but Potapenko slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Potapenko slows the pace down in half guard.
Vaugh is still in real trouble! Can Potapenko finish him?
Potapenko lands a big elbow from half guard. That looks like it's hurt Vaugh quite badly. Vaugh pulls Potapenko in close trying to recover. Potapenko postures up and lands two really hard shots that put Vaugh on queer street! The ref takes a look and decides to call an end to the fight! Possibly an early stoppage but Vaugh doesn't seem to be complaining too much.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Alexey Potapenko!
In defeat, Michael Vaugh stepped up to the mic, saying 'Oh well, I guess I had a bad day.'.
