Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Schmitt.
Joes darts in looking for a takedown but Schmitt gets double underhooks and turns Joes into the cage.
Joes closes the distance and clinches up with Schmitt, looking for a takedown. Joes pushes Schmitt against the cage but Schmitt circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Schmitt looks to score with a jab to the body but Joes is just out of range.

Schmitt wants to finish this one by submission but Joes is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Schmitt.
Joes defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Schmitt.
Schmitt goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Joes turns into him and now he's in Schmitt's guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Schmitt is pressing down on Joes's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Joes showing good wrestling skills to control the position.

Joes wants to control from the top but Schmitt keeps moving.
Joes has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Schmitt is proving hard to escape from.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Schmitt bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Joes's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Schmitt's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Joes tries to clinch there but Schmitt circles away.
Schmitt stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Schmitt wants it to stay on the feet.
A momentary lapse in concentration from Joes enables Schmitt to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Joes manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Schmitt is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Joes can do to turn this around?
Joes keeping moving, preventing Schmitt from controlling successfully.
Schmitt looking to sit in guard and control but Joes gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Joes content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Schmitt has locked up a guillotine! Schmitt's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Joes is holding on here and Schmitt must be using up a lot of energy. Joes has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Schmitt gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
