Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jarod Gibbs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Hayles (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, John Hayles!
The judges for this bout are Chris Dean, Winston Howard and Francis DeMontford.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gibbs is fighting off a takedown attempt but Hayles is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Gibbs to the mat. Gibbs regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Gibbs could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Gibbs bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Hayles's guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hayles controls Gibbs momentarily but Gibbs frees himself.

Gibbs not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Gibbs accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Gibbs's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Gibbs stands up over Hayles, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Gibbs is in close to Hayles's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Gibbs is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Gibbs looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Hayles with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Hayles wants to control but Gibbs is keeping busy and won't allow it.
