Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Phil Brooks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jimmy Johns (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brooks comes to the cage accompanied by Cult Of Personality. The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Phil Brooks!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jimmy Johns!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Ren Mimura and Shigeki Fujiwara.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johns misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Brooks tries for a takedown but Johns sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Brooks shoots for a takedown but Johns saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Johns was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.

Brooks manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Johns on his heels. He'll look to pass Johns's guard now, I'm sure.

Johns scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Brooks looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Johns is fending him off so far but Brooks persists. Nope, Johns circles away and we're back to standing.

Johns is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Brooks is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Johns decides to stand up, so the ref orders Brooks to his feet.
Horrible takedown attempt by Brooks or perhaps it was just good defense by Johns, which made it look bad.

Johns closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Brooks is looking to get back to his feet here but Johns is keeping cool and he's managed to take Brooks's back.
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.

It looks like Johns might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

I really don't envy Brooks right now.

Brooks shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Johns as he jumps to the side.
Brooks takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

Brooks is trying to drag Johns to the mat but Johns just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Johns throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
As Johns looks to move away, Brooks throws a big counter combo but Johns just gets out of the way.

Brooks shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Johns napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Brooks swings around for an armbar but Johns sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Brooks's guard.
Brooks is striking but Johns is not phased and passes to half guard.
Johns is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Johns is looking to work his way around to Brooks's back. He needs to be careful though, as he's in danger of losing this dominant position.

Johns stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Brooks changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Johns tries to avoid it but Brooks manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Johns to the ground. Johns escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Johns fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Brooks sprawls well initially but Johns persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Johns is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Brooks defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.

Brooks is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Johns gets his way!

I really don't envy Brooks right now.

Johns has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Brooks is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Johns.
Brooks is trying to get back to his feet but Johns has full control of the position and if anything, Brooks has just worked his way into a worse spot.

Johns is persistently looking for the submission but Brooks is defending it well.
You can see the frustration on Brooks's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Well Johns has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
