PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Emmett Grimes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pete Flynn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Flynn comes into a darkened arena with his song building. The Landlord's Walk kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! On his way into the cage it seems that Emmett Grimes has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Emmett Grimes seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Flynn throws a head kick that misses.

Flynn rushes Grimes and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Flynn's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Flynn moves into the clinch.

Flynn breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Flynn throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Grimes moves into the clinch.

Flynn clinches up with Grimes and pushes him back against the cage.
Grimes tries to pull guard but Flynn won't allow it.
Flynn gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
Flynn lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.
Flynn unloads a knee to the mid-section.
Grimes jumps guard but Flynn turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Flynn lands with a short shot to the head.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Grimes is trying to pull guard but Flynn has him pressed against the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Emmett Grimes. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Flynn breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Flynn scores with a body shot.

Flynn lands a leg kick that knocks Grimes off balance momentarily.
Grimes blocks a head kick by Flynn.
Grimes throws a quick counter kick to the body but Flynn avoids it.

Grimes tries to keep at a distance but Flynn has taken the fight into the clinch.

Flynn escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Grimes feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Flynn is working an open guard so Grimes takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Pete Flynn seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Grimes tries to keep at a distance but Flynn has taken the fight into the clinch.

Flynn breaks from the clinch.

Grimes fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Flynn, pushing him back against the cage.

Flynn pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Flynn forces Grimes back against the cage and clinches.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Grimes tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Flynn is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Grimes can't fight it off and eventually Flynn manages to take the fight to the floor. Grimes looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Flynn wanted to stand there but Grimes had control of the position.
Grimes seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Flynn gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Flynn moves into range and clinches up with Grimes.

Flynn pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Flynn closes the distance and clinches.

Flynn lands an elbow that stopped Grimes in his tracks for a moment.

It looks like Emmett Grimes has been cut.
Flynn has Grimes pushed against the cage.
Grimes jumps guard but Flynn stands there with Grimes around his waist. Grimes gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
A short body shot lands from Flynn as the two fighters clinch.
Grimes tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Flynn just stands there and leans against the cage.
Grimes is breathing heavily.

Grimes jumps guard and drags Flynn to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Flynn gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Flynn drives through and clinches with Grimes against the cage.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Grimes tries to pull guard but Flynn forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Flynn lands a big knee to the head and Grimes goes down! Flynn pounces and finishes the fight with strikes! He jumps to his feet and celebrates with the crowd!
