The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Diaz avoids a punch combination nicely.
Yoshido Okinowa seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Diaz tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Okinowa paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Okinowa fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Okinowa throws an overhand right that lands on Diaz's shoulder, as Diaz tries to avoid the shot.

Diaz fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Okinowa, pushing him back against the cage.
Okinowa lands a damaging elbow.
Diaz tries a knee to the head but Okinowa blocks it.
Okinowa prevents Diaz from breaking the clinch.
Okinowa dodges an elbow strike from Diaz.

Okinowa pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Diaz swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Okinowa throws a left and a right that both miss
and Diaz counters with a left and a right that stings Okinowa.
Diaz drops Okinowa with a left and a right! Oh, Okinowa is hurt - Diaz dives into side control looking to finish!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Diaz in side control here. He's dropped a big elbow there and Okinowa looks hurt! Oh, he is hurt! Diaz turns on the heat and pounds him out for a TKO victory! Good killer instinct there!
