Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Shad Manning!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ham Kim!
The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Edson Gomes and Thiago Cunha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kim throws a hook but Manning avoids it easily.

Kim bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Kim working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Kim has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Kim sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
It looks like Kim might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Kim wants to finish this one by submission but Manning is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Kim.
Kim lands a big elbow.
Kim content just to control the position here.
Kim postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Manning looks a forlorn figure.
Kim landing strikes from the mount.
Kim takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Kim has eaten all the pies!
Manning wants to hold on but Kim pushes him away.

Kim goes for an armbar but Manning turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Manning.
Kim is trying to hold Manning in close to prevent damage but Manning has managed to pass into half guard.
Kim keeping hold of Manning's head, controlling as best he can.
Kim wants to improve his position but Manning is controlling well.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Kim moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Kim is looking for a triangle here but Manning uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Kim tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Manning wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Manning lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Kim can do anything to dispel that myth.
Kim is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Manning's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Manning seems to be looking for submissions.
Kim gets full guard.
Kim looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Kim is trying to hold Manning in close to prevent damage but Manning has managed to pass into half guard.
Kim wants to improve his position but Manning is controlling well.

Kim shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Manning but Manning pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Manning misses with a double jab

and Kim counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Kim.
Manning has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Kim avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Manning is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Kim pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Kim escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Manning swings around for an armbar but Kim sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Manning's guard.
Kim seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Kim slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Manning is being controlled here.
Manning is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Kim off and has taken his back!
Kim is trying to stand back up.
Manning wants to control but Kim manages to buck him off and is now in Manning's guard! Nice work there by Kim!

Manning has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Kim must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Kim lands a couple of elbows.
Kim distracts Manning with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Kim slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Manning is looking to escape.

Kim wants to stand up but Manning is controlling the position.
Kim is trying to control. Manning wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Manning throws the kick towards the body but Kim avoids it.

Kim closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Kim lands in his opponent's guard.

Ham Kim showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Kim keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Kim is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Kim dives in for a single leg takedown but Manning sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kim is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Manning has managed to free his arm - good work.
Manning is trying to stand back up but Kim is controlling him

Kim has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Manning has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Kim is working away from the top position though.
Manning flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Kim displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Manning.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Manning tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Kim manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Kim now looks to counter with a shot at the body.

Kim gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Manning breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Kim shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Kim not doing much here.
Kim lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Still in half guard, Kim seems content to control.

Manning wants to get back to his feet.
Kim lands with a punch from half guard.
Kim stops Manning from getting back to his feet.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Manning trying to control but Kim postures up.
Kim working over Manning with some ground and pound. Manning looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Kim wants to stand but his hand is trapped. Manning uses the opportunity to regain full guard.
Manning keeping moving, preventing Kim from controlling successfully.
Kim looking to pass the guard.

Kim is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Manning is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Manning has escaped and now he's on top!

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Kim lands a couple of decent looking body shots there.

And that's the end of the fight!
Ham Kim comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Kim has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
